Position Description
The Associate Director of Technology and Digital Initiatives (ATD) provides leadership for library technology planning and implementation. The department oversees management of the ILS, discovery layers, e-resources, the library’s web presence, cataloging/meta data unit, future digital initiatives, coordination with the undergraduate library on e-resource authentication systems, and training of library staff in new technology tools and skills. The ATD ensures that the library incorporates next generation technologies with the potential to enrich library service offerings, assesses efficiency of workflows, improve the efficiency of library operations, as well as oversees day-to-day troubleshooting of existing systems. This supervisory role oversees librarians and paraprofessionals. As a member of the library’s senior management team, the ATD participates in strategic and tactical decision-making for the library as a whole.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for strategic planning on all matters relating to library technology.
- Serves as lead administrator for the Law Library’s current ILS (Sierra integrated library system) and Ex Libris 360 Link platform and any future ILS and discovery platforms. Leads the evaluation of the library’s ILS needs, as well as any future migrations.
- Sets department goals and policies.
- Trains and supervises department members.
- Collaborates in the management of cross-department projects.
- Oversees creation and maintenance of electronic resources.
- Oversees and manages library’s and OPAC webpages.
- Monitors developments in technology and digital initiatives impacting libraries and advises the Library Director and other library staff on best practices and innovations.
- Liaisons with the Law School ITS team regarding all activities affecting library services, and collaborates with that department on areas of overlapping responsibility.
- Manages all digital initiative projects.
- Spearheads troubleshooting interactions with e-resource vendors and oversees resolution of issues regarding functionality and access.
- Liaisons with Bobst Library leadership on systems relating to authentication of e-resource users.
- Serves as a leader of the Law Library Technology Working Group.
- Arranges or oversees the coordination of product trials and testing and rolling out new products, software and systems.
Classification
This is a faculty (non-tenure track) position, and after the first year is eligible for multi-year contracts.

Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
- M.L.S. or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of ILS/LSP and discovery systems.
- 5 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise in current and emerging trends in library and information technologies; particularly in academic libraries.
- Supervisory experience with profession and/or support staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with initiating and monitoring of digital initiatives in the academic setting.
