Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides general and in-depth reference assistance to law students, faculty and administrators through virtual and in-person reference desk services, and various outreach programs;
- Serves as library liaison to clinics, journals, faculty, and administrators;
- Teaches introductory legal research in a required first-year research course and upper level advanced legal research courses as an Adjunct Professor;
- Administers aspects of the library’s collection development program, including researching potential new acquisitions of digital and print materials, selection meetings, and maintenance of the collection development policy;
- Maintains and manages the microforms collection including government documents and court records and briefs;
- Contributes to creating a diverse and inclusive library through the development, implementation, and evaluation of collection development, reference, and public services policies, procedures, and publications;
- Reports to the Head of Reference who assigns additional functions as necessary.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an M.L.S. or equivalent from an A.L.A. accredited library school within 6 months of beginning employment;
- J.D. from an A.B.A. accredited law school or equivalent non-U.S. law degree;
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal research databases and resources;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work some evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in teaching or training;
- Experience providing research and reference services;
- Experience with marketing events on social media platforms.
