Spring 2026

Incoming President's Message

Welcome to the Spring 2026 GPLLA Newsletter!

Thank you to our current president and the board for a wonderful year. We appreciate their leadership and wish Paul and his family success as they begin their next chapter. I am honored to step into the role of GPLLA President for the 2025–2026 term.

GPLLA continues to offer strong programs and valuable benefits for our established librarians, including those who are between opportunities. In the year ahead, I hope to build on these programs and encourage students considering law librarianship as a career, along with those who are just beginning their professional journey to find mentorship and encouragement with GPLLA.

Are you interested in contributing to GPLLA's work? We have plenty of opportunities to serve on Committees. If you are interested in getting involved or would like to learn more about these roles, please reach out to me or to any current or former board member.

Sincerely,

Julie Bono

Thanks to the hard work of everyone involved, GPLLA's 2026 Annual Institute on March 20, exploring The State of Law Librarianship Today, was a great success. The panelists covered topics related to salaries, credentials, and new roles in law librarianship.

Special thanks to Reed Smith for hosting us in their beautiful space. And thank you to all the speakers, organizers, and attendees that contributed to an engaging and educational event!

A Look at GPLLA History: Logo

GPLLA's current logo is by now a well-recognized mark with its elegant design and pop of color from the arching stars. But do you remember GPLLA's logo from the start of the internet era?

GPLLA's logo circa 1999.

What do you think? Is it time to embrace the retro GPLLA logo?

Social Responsibilities Committee Lunch & Learn Recap

On April 27, the SRC organized a wonderful and well-attended virtual lunch and learn featuring Sarah Lamdan from the American Library Association's Office for Intellectual Freeom and Amanda Levenowski Tepski of Georgetown Law.
