    Description

    Cooley is seeking a Senior Resource & Access Specialist to join the IS Legal, Competitive & Enterprise Intelligence team.

    Position summary: Cooley Information Services (IS) embraces a culture of customer service excellence and all members of the department are expected to move this agenda forward. To that end the Senior Resource & Access Specialist is expected to recognize that the Cooley IS department is a service organization first and foremost and will be evaluated on this requirement equal in importance to the technical or operational responsibilities outlined later in this document.

    The Senior Resource & Access Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing current and emerging technologies for delivery of US legal and business research services.  Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Position responsibilities

    • Work with the Resource & Access Manager in moving the firm’s strategic plan for migration from hard copy to electronic resource access
    • Work with aligned staff colleagues in Legal Intelligence and Competitive Intelligence to ensure effective discovery of existing and new resources and understanding the value of firm resources effectively and efficiently utilizing those resources
    • Make recommendations for the selection, acquisition/cancellation, of electronic resources and hard copy resources
    • Manage onboarding of new vendor contracts to obtain legal, privacy and security review
    • Manage various aspects of the integrated library system, EOS
    • Negotiate select contracts for new and renewing electronic resources
    • Analyze and derive insights from the firm’s tracking software solution Research Monitor, to determine value and attorney engagement in the renewal of electronic resources. Gather insight from practice groups, as needed
    • Implement and manage reliable and seamless means of access to electronic resources, including effective management of relevant materials accessed from the Firm’s intranet, enhancing the discoverability and access to information resources
    • Coordinate with IS Communications to send email announcements regarding new electronic resources, changes in existing electronic resources or training opportunities for electronic resources to the appropriate groups within the Firm
    • Work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as needed, coordinating with the Cooley Service Desk
    • Identify and analyze trends within the Firm, from other legal firms, as well as other relevant industries for potential integration to improve services
    • Assist the Senior Resource Access Manager in the management of vendor relationships
    • Assist with maintenance of tagged electronic copies of all complete and current contracts in Firm depositories
    • All other duties as assigned or required

    Requirements

    Required:

    • 4+ years of experience in an electronic resource role working in a legal research environment
    • College degree or creditable prior work experience in the field
    • Strong understanding of resource licensing terms
    • Experience with an integrated library system such as EOS
    • Experience with electronic resource management systems (e.g., Research Monitor or OneLog)
    • Knowledge of legal research tools

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree in Library or Information Science
    • Experience in professional services environment

    Pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay For Equal Work Act, please find the compensation range specific to this role if based in CO, as well as a description of bonus and benefits generally applicable across all US offices.

    • Colorado pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience - $78,000 - $92,000 annually.
    • Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
    • Employees in this role will have the option to elect various benefits, including medical, dental, vision, accidental death and dismemberment, life insurance, dependent life insurance, long term disability, long-term care insurance, health savings accounts (if enrolled in an HDHP), health/dependent care spending accounts, 401(k) and profit sharing.
    • Other benefits include PTO and the option to participate in our tuition reimbursement program and wellness program, which includes fitness reimbursement each year.

    Pursuant to the salary transparency provisions of the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL), please find the compensation range specific to this role if based in New York.

    • New York pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience: $85,000 to $100,00 annually.

    The salary range in other markets will vary.
