A message from the Friends of the Free Library for the South Philadelphia Branch: The Friends of the Free Library for the South Philadelphia Branch are GPLLA members Jennifer Brank, Katie McDonald and Susan Posternock. The group formed late last year and has been working to raise funds to help bolster the library’s collection, and to also offset costs for programming within the branch. As library funding dwindles, the Friends’ role becomes more and more important. Especially when FFL branches are each given an $100 annual programming budget. In the coming weeks, we plan to order an assortment of early literacy materials for the library’s youngest patrons. We are also looking into hosting programs that cater to the various cultures within the neighborhood and contributions for these initiatives are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
