Law Librarian/Knowledge Manager
EMPLOYER:
Community Legal Services is a nonprofit law firm chartered in 1966 with locations in Center City and North Philadelphia. Its mission is to help low-income Philadelphia residents obtain equal justice by providing them with advice and representation in civil legal matters; advocating for their legal rights; and conducting community education about the legal issues that affect them.
We are creating a new full-time one year position – Law Librarian/Knowledge Manager. This position is best suited for an individual that is a self starter and is able to work in a fast paced and sophisticated law firm.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Collaborative librarian versed in electronic databases, legal bibliography, research skills, will manage print and online products in support of nine legal practice groups.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership in developing new resources and more efficient and effective use of information technologies
REQUIREMENTS:
Generates reports as required
Master’s degree in library or information science from accredited A.L.A. library school with extensive professional experience
Commitment to the public interest mission of CLS
Experience in database development
Proficient in Westlaw
Knowledge of current information trends and changes in information technology
Experience in overseeing all aspects of library services including reference, interlibrary loan, serials management, developing resource guides and technical services
Ability and experience in working with committees and collaborating on projects
Ability to work with a diverse workforce in a friendly but often deadline driven legal environment
Ability to see organizational needs and start and follow through on projects that improve the organization
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience
Excellent written and communication skills
